Maskings
About clear polycarbonate sheet maskings: Lexan® 9030 general purpose clear has stick cling masking on two sides, Lexan® 9034 general purpose has ultra masking two sides with the now Sabic logo on the sheet, Lexan® MR10 / Margard® clear has ultra masking now instead of paper masking, Lexan® XL2UV has red ultra masking on two sides, 112 is the Lexan resin color code, and Makrolon® GP (General Purpose) has ultra masking two sides.
Clarity
Lexan® 9034 1/8" or .118 will transmit 86-88% of light. For optically clear solid sheets look at OptiglassPC sheets.
Strength
Polycarbonates Lexan® & Makrolon® are more than 200 times more resistant to impact, chipping or breaking than glass.
Bullet Resistant
Lexan® 9034 and Makrolon® GP are NOT bullet resistant. If you are looking for bullet resistant polycarbonate go to Lexgard®.
Weight
Polycarbonates are approximately 50% lighter in weight than glass. It can be easily heat-formed into almost any form or shape. Lexan® and Makrolon® offer more clarity than glass because neither absorbs visible light like glass.
Lexan® polycarbonate is one of the most widely known "plastics". Lexan® and Makrolon® sheets with their unique combination of high impact strength and flame retardancy makes them ideally suited for security applications and industrial plant safety. Machine guards, machinery guarding, protective barriers, covers and dividers, sheilding, safety guards, protective windows are all perfect applications for Lexan® and Makrolon® clear sheets.
Other
Lexan® 9034 is NOT UV stabilized, it does have a heat deflection temperature of 270 degrees F at 264 PSI, and has a smoke density rating less than 75. Lexan® 9034 is engineered for window glazing as well as for interior sign applications. In addition to colorless (clear), Lexan 9034 is available in solar gray 713 and bronze 5109 in thicknesses from .030" to .500".
UV Resistant
For UV resistant clear polycarbonate see Lexan® XL, Makrolon® UV, Palsun® or Suntuff® polycarbonate. We fabricate all grades of UV resistant polycarbonates.
Abrasion Resistant
Lexan® MR10, Makrolon® AR and PC MARR are the best abrasion resistant products on the market. OPC MarR is an optically clear polycarbonate sheet with a hard coating applied for superior optical clarity and abrasion resistant. Applications include windows, store fronts, machine guards, transportation windows and any application where polycarbonate will see high traffic or out door elements.
Flame Retardant
Makrolon® FI, Lexan® FR60 and Lexan® 9600, Lexan® 2100
FDA Approved
Lexan® 9034 and Makrolon® GP ane not FDA Approved polycarbonates for food contact. Makrolon® FD is FDA Appoved for food contact.
Anti Static (EDS)
Anti-Static Polycarbonate is a plastic sheet product that controls static electricity for many applications, including windows, doors, mini-environment glazing panels, machine guards, covers and enclosures. It is a premium quality polycarbonate sheet coated with a proprietary, clear, static dissipative coating which prevents charge generation on the sheet surfaces. This controls particulate attraction and prevents electrostatic discharge (ESD) events completely independent of humidity. Anti-Static Polycarbonate is easy to fabricate, light in weight and is available in large sheet sizes. It has superior impact resistance and flame-spread properties, plus excellent clarity, chemical resistance, and mar resistance.
