B.I.R.S. Machine & Supply Cast Urethane elastomer material is manufactured fo tough impact and abrasion applications. Cast Urethane combines the best properties of metals, rubbers and plastics. Cast urethane takes pounding of an automatic recoils of rifles, or the abrasion and beating that a conveyor belt guide rail gets day after day in a rock quarry. Polyurethane is also oil and solvent resistant, with a high resistance to sunlight and weather conditions. Polyurethane provides excellent sound dampening properties in relation to rubber and plastics and is also great for electrical insulating applications. Polyurethane (sometimes called just urethane) is resistent to harsh chemicals and abrasion. Cast urethane elastomer simply does not break under ASTM D-256 izod impact testing. Cast Urethane has 40 times the Taber abrasion resistance of rigid PVC and has 7 times that of high density polyethylene.
