Sheaves are used to guide and support wire rope, wire, fiber rope, coated cable,

woven rope, fiber optical cable, flexible hose, and belts. 

 

 

Benefits of using Nylon MD sheaves over conventional steel and cast iron sheaves. These advantages include:

 

Light Weight

Cast Nylon MD sheaves are 1/8th the weight of steel or iron sheaves. The weight reduction improves the lifting capabilities of mobile and fixed boom cranes. Lighter weight sheaves make it easy to install verses steel or iron sheaves. 

 

Longer Rop Life

Rope grooves will flex under the load of the rope providing increased support to the rope. 

 

Increase Loads

Arm weight of telescoping cranes is decreased because Cast Nylon MD sheaves are lighter. Also, Cast Nylon MD sheaves flex under the load of the rope increasing the contact area between the rope and groove which increases load capacity. 

 

Corrosion Resistant

Cast Nylon MD sheaves will not rust or corrode. 

 

Decreased Operating Costs

With Cast Nylon MD, the need for regular lubrication can be reduced or omitted.
