Viking Drill & Tool Type 240-UB Ultra Bor Super Premium drill bits are manufactured to NAS 907B specification from premium Hi-Molybdenum Steel, which is much tougher than cobalt steel. Type 240-UB Ultra Bor are jobber length drills.
Ultra Bor will substantially outperform cobalt drills in work hardening stainless steel and other tough applications. Ultra Bor are Nitro-Carburized.
Ultra Bor Super Premium Drills have a thin web that will penetrate work hardening stainless fast enough to continually cut beneath the chip which is hardening from deformation. The cobalt with its thick web cannot be fed at a fast enough rate to cut beneath the area which is hardening.
