CIP COMPOSITE MATERIAL

B.I.R.S. Machine & Supply Inc is a distributor of CIP Industrial Self-Lubricating

Composite Material sheet, tube & machined components.

CIP Industrial Composites are laminated plastic materials that are manufactured by impregnating fabrics with thermosetting resins. The physical and mechanical properties of all grades of CIP Composite materials make them excellent bearing materials. CIP composites materials offer design engineers an attractive, low cost alternative to the traditional materials used throughout industry for bearings, wear pads and other components. CIP composites materials have only 1/6 the weight of steel, good dimensional stability and contain no harmful toxic materials.

CIP Composite materials are an excellent replacement for bronze and brass mating surfaxes, bushings, bearings or slide bearings
. CIP Composite materials are recommended for general purpose bearings, bushings, slide pads, and other mating surfaces where wear resistance and durability are important. These materials are also ideal for pivoting and sliding applications where thin wall bearings are required. CIP Composite bearing materials can be manufactured in a variety of non-standard shapes and sizes, and can be readily machined and installed like comparable metal products.

CIP Material Grades
CIP offers a variety of composite material grades to choose from to best suit your specific bearing and wearing applications.  CIP materials are self lubricating laminated composites materials made by impregnating textiles with thermo setting resins and solid lubricants (choose from graphite, moly, or PTFE, Enhancement A™ or B™).  CIP Composites™ are 100% bearing materials (no metallic or fiberglass shell) and they do not contain any resin filler materials (no calcium carbonate CaCO3).  Columbia Industrial Products offers multiple textiles, lubrication and resin combinations in order to manufacture the highest quality material for your specific application.  The most common CIP Composite™ materialgrades include:

CIP 101 - Polyester textile, no lubrication, standard polyester resin

CIP 111 - Polyester textile, graphite lubrication, standard polyester resin

CIP 121 - Polyester textile, moly lubrication, standard polyester resin

CIP 131 - Polyester textile, PTFE lubrication, standard polyester resin

CIP131A - Polyester textile, PTFE lubrication, standard polyester resin plus Enhancement A®

CIP 141 - Polyester textile, PTFE & graphite lubrication, standard polyester resin

CIP 151 - Polyester textile, moly & PTFE lubrication, standard polyester resin

CIP 151A - Polyester textile, moly & PTFE lubrication, standard polyester resin plus Enhancement A®

CIP 251A - Polyester and PTFE combined textile, moly & PTFE lubrication, standard polyester                                            resin plus Enhancement®

CIP 252B - Polyester textile, PTFE & molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), standard polyester resin plus                                        Enhancement B®

CIP 303 - Nomex® textile, no lubrication, vinyl ester resin (high temperature)

CIP 313 - Nomex® textile, graphite lubrication, vinyl ester resin (high temperature)

CIP 333A - Nomex® Textile, PTFE lubrication, vinyl ester resin (high temperature)

CIP HYDRO® - Proprietary blend of textile, lubrication and resin mixture specifically formulated for the Hydro                             Power industry.

CIP MARINE® - Proprietary blend of textile, lubrication and resin mixture specifically formulated for the Marine                            industry.

*CIP Enhancement A® - an additive to the resin mixture which enhances the physical properties of the material such as strength, durability and coefficient of friction.

*CIP Enhancement B® - an additive to the resin mixture which enhances the physical properties of the material such as strength, durability and coefficient of friction while reducing noise/squeaking.  Designed specifically for oscillating and pivoting motion.

CIP material grades depend specifically on your application; the type of environment (wet/dry, dirty/caustic), amount of load, speed of moving parts, and temperature are all taken into consideration when choosing which

CIP material will solve your problem or concern.
